There is a wide variety of things to do in the Southeastern Oklahoma area, whether it is hiking, going for a scenic drive on the Talimena Scenic Drive is highly recommended (20 minutes away), golfing (Cedar Creek Golf Course is less than 5 minutes away), fishing for trout (3 miles away), boating, skiing and swimming (Broken Bow Lake is only 3 miles from the cabin), hiking and ATV opportunities in many permitted areas. Known for its pine-rimmed fairways, Cedar Creek Golf Course is one of the most beautiful courses in the state. Nestled in the foothills of the Kiamichi Mountains, the long, narrow course is surrounded by pine forests and the deep-blue waters of Broken Bow Lake. Crystal-clear Cedar Creek runs through the course, providing beauty, wildlife and hazard. 18 holes, par 72, bent grass greens, bermuda grass tees and fairways, putting green, driving range, pro shop with cart and club rentals, snacks and drinks. Private or group lessons available. Nearby Lakeview Lodge and Beavers Bend Resort Park provide lodging and other recreation.

Broken Bow Lake:

Broken Bow Lake is located in one of the state's most beautiful settings. The 22-mile long lake lies in the Ouachita Mountains of McCurtain County in southeastern Oklahoma. Beavers Bend State Park, located along the Mountain Fork River just below the dam, provides cabins and may other recreational facilities.
More than 12,000 acres of land surrounding the lake are open for hunting, with 5,420 acres designated as the Broken Bow Public Hunting Area. The area is predominately forest, providing habitat for deer, wild turkey, and squirrel. The McCurtain County Wilderness Area, a 14,087 acres oak-pine forest adjacent to and just northeast of the lake, was the first land acquired by the State Department of Wildlife Conservation. No hunting is permitted in this area and public access is strictly regulated.

Situated in the Kiamichi-Ouachita Mountain region of southeastern Oklahoma, the McCurtain County Wilderness Area is the last sizable expanse of old growth oak/shortleaf pine forest in the nation. It is located 25 miles north of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and eight miles east of Highway 259.
Visitors may enter from the west and leave their vehicles at the nature trail parking lot between the area entrance and the manager's headquarters. From this point, they may explore the primitive west side ridges and slopes along the nature trail or, under the direction of the area manager, travel across a narrow channel of Broken Bow Reservoir to the rugged east side.

The Ouachita National Forest covers 1.8 million acres in central Arkansas and southeastern Oklahoma. Headquartered in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the forest is managed for multiple uses, including timber and wood production, watershed protection and improvement, habitat for wildlife and fish species (including threatened and endangered ones), wilderness area management, minerals leasing, and outdoor recreation.

Beavers Bend Fly Shop is located on the Lower Mountain Fork River, inside Beavers Bend State Park.
The designated trout stream is 12 miles long and holds thousands of rainbow and brown trout. The Oklahoma Fish and Game Department stocks nearly 4000 fish every other Thursday. Beavers Bend is a year round fishery located only 3 hours from Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Within Beavers Bend State Park, in Southeastern Oklahoma, our marina is on Broken Bow Lake, often called the "gem of the state".
A part of the Oklahoma State Parks system, but unknown by many due to its Southeastern location, the lake has some of the cleanest, clearest water of any of the Oklahoma Lakes or fresh water lakes in the United States. Considered a deep-water lake due to being situated in the Kiamichi Mountains, the water is very blue and so clear, that swimmers can actually see their toes down to 6 feet or deeper.
